What is the ZipA Foil?
The ZipA Foil is a patented self-attachable hair foil unlike any other. The ZipA Foil was specifically designed by professional hair colorists to eliminate all the challenges of using traditional aluminum hair foils. These foils do not rely on folding to stay in place so they are much faster to use than traditional foils. Since they are self-attachable you can now foil short hair and place your foils in any direction giving you new effects once thought impossible. The ZipA foil allows you to precisely apply hair coloring solutions all the way to the root line without the worries of bleeds, spots or lines. These foils are fast, precise and affordable. They come in many sizes and versions so you can mix and match them to give you endless new hair coloring effects.
So many Features, It’s a Shame to call it a Foil
The ZipA Foil is an engineering marvel that has many specific features to help you in the hair coloring process. These foils are self-attachable but that’s just the start. There are many other hidden benefits and each needs to be looked at closely in order to appreciate them. Yes ZipA Foils were designed to be disposable due to sanitation reasons but they can be dismantled and recycled to lower their impact on the environment. Each ZipA Foil is actually a well engineered tool and our typical package holds 100 foils. These foils will cost a little more than traditional aluminum hair foils but the speed and precision gained will well overcome the small increase in cost.
Self-Attachable
We place two rows of miniature attachment hooks on the underside of each ZipA Foil. These hooks hold the foil in place by hooking on to the hairs just above the part line you create. These hooks can slide along the length of the hair shaft to fit tight to the scalp.
Foil Rotation
The offset between the two rows of attachment hooks allow the ZipA Foil to be steered or rotated. The restrictive force between the hook rows holds the weight of the foil allowing you to place them in any direction you wish.
Zig-Zag Edge
The leading edge of the ZipA Foil holds several key performance features. The zig-zag pattern works as a wedge to separate hair strands into natural segments. Once the foil is removed the lines have been eliminated. A push flap is placed on the top side of the foil to adjust the foils final positioning.
Paper Surface
The top side of each ZipA Foil is made of white paper. This is where you apply your hair coloring solutions. Paper is naturally neutral and holds absorption capabilities so it’s perfect for applying hair color solutions. The paper prevents color drifting and pooling resulting in much more even color application results than aluminum foil.
Foil Benefits
Aluminum foil has it’s specific uses. It’s strong and makes a perfect insulator to hold in heat during processing. It’s pliability and it’s memory features makes it great for folding. We use foil only on the underside of the ZipA Foil so that the negative aspects of aluminum do not come in contact with your hair coloring solutions.
Round Heads
Heads are not flat so each ZipA Foil is designed to curve and fit to the contour of the head. The leading edge has notches and it’s narrower than the foil base to promote curvature. We also place embossed paterns on the foil surface in stagegic locations to assit with natural curvature abilities. The results are a closer fit to the scalp for more precise hair coloring effects.
Grip to Fit
We offer two versions of attachment hooks for the ZipA Foil. We refer to them as our traditional and aggressor versions. The traditional version is designed to release from the hair shaft to prevent damage and entanglement. The aggressor version has more hooks and attaches closer to the scalp. It’s great on short and very fine hair.
Multiple Sizes
ZipA Foils come in two widths and five different lengths. We have foils designed for root touch-ups and others designed for Baylayage effects on long hair. We alway suggest combining different foil sizes to enhance your effects or save on cost.
Foil Separation
ZipA Foils are produced in stacks of twenty six foils. The foils are held together with small perforations that can easily be separated. The reason we connect our foils is to protect them from damage due to humidity and handling. You can simply separate foils at time of use or have your clients separate and hand them to you individually as needed.

ZipA Foils are sold in packages of 100 pieces. You actually get four stacks of 26 foils so in reality you are getting 4 foils free in each package.
